On January 4, 2010 at 2023hrs Schuylkill Valley EMS was dispatched to assist the fire department for a structure fire in Ontelaunee Township at the Brenntag Industries chemical facility. Initial reports from Chief 12 reported smoke showing from the garage area. Initial crews made entrance to the fire area and found a fire had started in the wall possibly caused by an electrical malfunction and had been knocked down by the sprinkler system.

Due to the possibility of chemical exposure a gross decon area was set up by fire units and EMS preformed evaluations on all personnel involved in interior fire suppression. An all call had been sent out for any available SVEMS members to assist due to the request by fire command for Schuylkill Valley's rehab trailer. The primary crew from SVEMS was initially assisted by Muhlenburg EMS while additional personnel were assembled. A second ALS transport crew responded along with the rehab trailer in case there was a need to take any injuries to the hospital while a third ALS crew was staged in quarters to cover any additional calls that may have occurred in SVEMS's coverage area.
