Schuylkill Valley EMS is an American Heart Association approved Community Training Center for Basic Life Support Courses.  Schuylkill Valley EMS is also an approved Independent ASHI training center.  SVEMS offers classes here at station in our own training facility as well as on the road at your location of choose.  SVEMS provides training to all types of civic organizations as well as training for local Schools, and Businesses.  Listed below are some of the classes our current training center provides.  If you require a class and don't see it listed please contact our training department as we usually can provide the Course you are looking for.

First Aid/CPR: 

Includes adult CPR and choking, patient assessments and vital signs, bleeding control, bandaging, fractures, and trauma injuries, medical and environmental emergencies.  This course can be designed specific to your facility.  Can add pediatrics and also AED to this program.

Community/Workplace CPR with First Aid:

Adult and pediatric CPR with first aid.  Suitable for coaches, teachers and adult day care center employees.

CPR with First Aid Recertification:

Pediatric and adult CPR with first aid for those with current CPR and First Aid cards.

Blood borne Pathogens: 

OSHA requires annual blood borne pathogens training for employees who have occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials.

CPR Adult:

Designed for the workplace where only adults are present.

CPR Adult/Child/Infant:

Designed to provide care to victims or respiratory or cardiac arrest, regardless of age.

Health Care Provider CPR:

CPR for the health care professional.

Pediatric CPR: 

Child and Infant CPR for parents, preschool or nursery employees.

Medical response team training                            

Schuylkill Valley EMS is An Independent ASHI Authorized Training Center

First Responder: 

To provide students with the core knowledge, skills and attitudes to function in the capacity of a First Responder consistent with National Standard Curriculum.  The First Responder given a patient situation, will perform in the management of each of the following situations: bleeding control/shock management, patient assessment/trauma, airway management and ventilation, adult CPR/AED, adult/child FBAO, Infant FBAO, one and two rescuer CPR.

Essentials: 

This program will prepare the first aid provider all the necessary training to treat life threatening illnesses or injuries until EMS arrives.  This course includes:  CPR, First Aid, AED, Emergency Oxygen and Blood borne Pathogens.

MERT Drills: 

We can offer on-site skills and drills to polish your staff’s skills in providing superior medical care.

 

OTHER PROGRAMS

 

Hazard Communications Program: 

The program provides employer assistance in complying with OSHA’s Hazard Communication standard and state right to know laws.  The class provides an overview of the hazard communications, health, and physical hazards, labeling, MSDS’s the principals of chemical safety, personal protective equipment and chemical spills.

Consulting service

SVEMS can assist you in setting up a company Emergency Response Team.  This service includes site assessment, our recommendations, and training along with outfitting your E.R.T. with all of the necessary equipment.

 

Our trained professional staff can help implement a Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) or Corporate Automated External Defibrillator Program.  We will provide a site survey, our recommendations, necessary training, Doctors prescriptions for the necessary equipment, along with annual testing and maintenance of your AED’s. 

 

SVEMS recommendations are written so they are easy to understand, we know medical terminology can be complicated at times.  We want our teaching and recommendations to be understood by all.  Our staff is available to assist your company with any questions or safety presentations.

Consulting physicians and EMS staff to answer your medical-related questions

On-site skills and drills

All instructors have experience in Emergency Medical Care (EMT, Paramedics, RN or Physicians)

Meets OSHA Compliance:  1910 & 1926 regulations for first aid in the workplace and other regulations.

Student text provided in course cost for each student.

 

 

Basic Wilderness First Aid: 

Is an intensive 8-10 hour course for those who do wilderness recreation.  It may also meet the needs of volunteers and professionals who lead guided short trips in relatively low risk situations, where they are not far from help.

Wilderness First Aid: 

Is a 16-20 hour course for those who do more serious wilderness activities.  It is the choice of many wilderness trip leaders and guides.  WFA presents wilderness topics in more detail, provides more time for skills practice and also includes role-playing wilderness accidents.

Wilderness First Responder: 

is a 60-80 hour course for wilderness professionals and others who want a higher level of training or require WFR certification.  The course length may very depending on whether the class has pervious training, or does enough reading and preparation to reduce the need for lectures.  Skills’ training is intensive, with many role-playing wilderness accident scenarios.

Workshops and Seminars: 

Instructors can also offer workshops or seminars on specific topics

Fire Safety & Disaster Preparedness: 

Be safe and vigilant at work, home and away.  This is a general awareness course that addresses safety in natural and man made disasters.  Prevention and preparation is also discussed.
